Your Task:
It is going to be important for you to document your experiences, so you will be writing in your "Adventure Journal" each day. During this week you will be encountering many new and exciting things. It will be important for you to prepare a packing list with the necessary items to keep you prepared like Lewis and Clark. You will also have to map your journey along the Missouri River. Don't forget to record the scenery, animals, plants and people you encounter along the way. As an explorer, it will be your job to record and present these findings to the class. You will be making a journal like the one Lewis and Clark have written in the picture above!
Day-by-Day Activities:

Invite students to recall (from the film) the type of help these tribes provided the expedition, as well as any features that provide information about their culture, values, way of living, etc. Use the first two pages of the attachment 1 to gather additional information about the Native American tribes to include in your journal. |
Day 6: Publishing Your Journal
Your exploration is now complete! It is time for you to publish your journal. Use the website below for examples of Lewis and Clark's own journals. You can model how you format your entries with these examples. Make sure to compile each days work into the journal (including the packing list, maps, etc). You will have time in class to make the cover and bind your journal together. You will be sharing your favorite entry with the class.
